In controlled-environment experiments, 1-year-old plants of lucerne Vernal were grown at day/night temperature regimes of 35/29, 28/22, 21/16 or 16/10 deg C and given no fertilizer, 224 kg N/ha, 448 kg N/ha or 224 kg N + 448 kg K/ha. Time to first flowering decreased from 50 to 17 days as temperatures increased from 16/10 deg to 35/29 deg and was unaffected by fertilizer regime.
