Abstract
Aflatoxin (a toxigenic principle of Aspergillus flavus) inhibited the formation of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and protochlorophyll in the expanding cotyledons of C.sativus cv. Long Green. However, GA increased their content and nullified the inhibitory effect of aflatoxin. It is suggested that aflatoxin checks the synthesis of chlorophyll by restricting the growth hormone-induced synthesis of RNA, DNA and proteins in the leaf.
