Interactions between isolation and values related to modernization in Southern Brazil
Brazilian farm operators from three separate samples (N = 494) were classified by degree of contact with the larger society. Product-moment correlations between level of living and attitudes towards modern prestige standards showed an interaction effect. Among respondents with little contact, the least prosperous tended toward acceptance of modern prestige standards.
