Investigations on resistance to virus Y and the suitability of interspecific potato hybrids for breeding. II. Suitability of interspecific potato hybrids for breeding for resistance to virus Y

Hodowla Roslin, Aklimatyzacja i Nasiennictwo 14(6): 499-512

Crosses were made with Solanum chacoense, S. commersonii, S. stoloniferum, S. simplicifolium, S. vernei and S. rybinii and their hybrids. Tabulated results show a mean fruit set of 5.6% in crosses between species, 3.3% in crosses between hybrids and 8.6% in crosses of hybrids X species; the mean number of seeds per berry was 69 in crosses between hybrids and only 47 in crosses between species.
