The daily rhythm of activity of adults of Hylemya (Leptohylemyia) coarctata (Fall.) and Oscinella frit (L.) in wheat fields in East Germany is described from investigations made in early July in 1969-71 in which sweep-net samples were taken. Both species exhibited pronounced peaks of activity in the morning and evening.
