Latent phosphorus deficiency in the development of growing ruminants. 9. P and Ca concentrations in selected bones from pregnant heifers given different amounts of phosphorus and from calves of heifers given different amounts of phosphorus

Latent phosphorus deficiency in the development of growing ruminants. 9. P and Ca concentrations in selected bones from pregnant heifers given different amounts of phosphorus and from calves of heifers given different amounts of phosphorus

Jahrbuch fur Tierernahrung und Futterung 8: 199-207

For previous parts see NAR 41, 4404.9. From the group of 39 pregnant heifers, 9 were selected for estimation of P, Ca and ash in 4 bones. From the 13th month of age they had all had the same amounts of digestible crude protein and starch equivalent in feed and, on average, 12.7 g P with 64.6 or 34.6 g Ca, or 7.8 g P and 37.7 g Ca daily. After 18 months of experimental feeding, or 12 if the intake of P was low, they were killed.
