In tests of 22 varieties, Venezuela 1 was slightly attacked by H. maydis (Cochliobolus heterostrophus) and severely by H. turcicum (Trichometasphaeria turcica). The converse was true of 50IV43, and 48S28 was slightly attacked by the latter and moderately by the former while H.
