Among 89 Yorkshire and Finnish landrace sows with locomotory disorders, one-third showed high SGOT activity (in comparison with 100 healthy sows), probably indicating nutritional myopathy, and half showed high alkaline phosphatase (AP) activity, probably indicating bone weakness. 7% had foot lesions and 10% had joint lesions. For an abstract of part II see V.B. 44, abst. 5269. In part III, the diet of sows on 25 farms was investigated. P content was satisfactory.
