15 Polish Black Pied Lowland heifers initially in the 2nd month of lactation received during stall feeding, a ration of maize silage, fodder beet, meadow hay, wheat straw and concentrates, and on pasture, supplements of wheat straw, green vetch/rye and chalk. Blood (from the jugular vein) and milk were sampled 1 day before the heifers went out to pasture and after 3, 7, 13 and 20 days on pasture.
