Seedlings of Pinus elliottii, grown in fumigated soil (a) inoculated with root segments from mycorrhizal nursery stock or (b) uninoculated, were planted out 91/2 months of age on a clear-felled, grass-covered site in Louisiana that had carried P. elliottii several years before.
