Natural sterility maintainer and fertility restorer mutants in Tift 23A1 cytoplasmic male-sterile pearl millet, Pennisetum typhoides, (Burm.) Stapf & Hubb

Three types of mutants involving fertility restoration were investigated. Five plants had male-fertile sectors present on heads which were otherwise male sterile, and the open-pollinated seed from these sectors gave rise to equal numbers of male-fertile and male-sterile plants. Selfing of the fertile offspring gave almost no male-sterile plants.
