1. In studies from 1969 to 1971 yield of potatoes was affected by fertilizer, weather and soil. The largest increase in yield was on average 92.7 quintals/ha with 120 kgN/ha; 180 and 240 kg N/ha did not increase yields further but reduced starch content and in 2 years vitamin C content. Starch was on average 12.8 to 14.0% and vitamin C 15.1 to 19.5 mg/100 g.
