Nitrogen fertilization in relation to seasonal Pensacola Bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum Flugge) forage nitrogen and production distribution on Leon fine sand

In field trials in 1967-9, N was applied to Bahia grass Pensacola at 0, 112, 224, 448 or 672 kg/ha in 4 equal dressings. Up to 224 kg/ha the yield response was linear, reaching 11 t/ha at that rate and 15 t/ha at 448 kg N. Herbage N content increased from 1.40% with no N to 2.0% at 448 kg N in spring and from 1.07 to 1.60% at other seasons.
