In further studies on the sex ratio in Tetranychus urticae Koch, a possible relation between the time spent in pairing and the sex ratio of the progeny was investigated in the strain of the mite from Sambucus The ratio of females to males in the progeny of females that have paired is normally 2.5-3:1 in this strain. In the studies, mites were allowed to initiate pairing, and some pairs were separated after 10, 20, 30, 60, 90 or 120 s.
