Peeling veneer with a floating bar: effect of bar pressure on veneer quality

Peeling veneer with a floating bar: effect of bar pressure on veneer quality

Forest Products Journal 23(12): 28-31

Reports further peeling experiments, with a floating pressure bar, in which pressures of 20 to 90 lb per linear inch (pli) were used, with low or high vertical gap setting in the peeling of several softwood and hardwood species. In general, veneer quality improved (i.e. roughness and depth of checks decreased) at higher pressures, and with a low gap setting.
