Infection of groundnuts in Egypt by peg and pod rot, caused by several soil fungi, increased from 13% in 1967-9 to 18% in 1970. In a field trial in 1968-70 in which Brassicol 75 (PCNB) was applied to the soil at various rates and dates, the disease was satisfactorily contolled and yields of unshelled nuts were increased, compared with untreated plots, by application of 6 kg PCNB a.i./feddan at 3 weeks after sowing.
