Methods for increasing yields of agricultural crops grown on irrigated land in the steppe zone of the Ukrainian SSR include application of chemicals (fertilizers, trace elements, growth substances, pesticides, etc.), increased afforestation for shelter belts, soil moisture conservation, rational use of rainfall and irrigation water, control of soil erosion, rotations, the growing of catch crops and the use of high-yielding cultivars of the various crops.
