T. aestivum 'Tbilisuri 5', a complex hybrid 98 cm high and maturing early when pollinated with T. durum 'Tavtukhi 19-28', 120 cm high, gave a 28% set and 66% seedling survival. The F1 showed heterosis for tillering but was intermediate in most respects and segregation for type occurred in the F2 and F3, many forms ranging from 27 to 71 cm in height.In the F4, forms were selected which resembled bread wheats, had 2n = 42, and grains containing 11.6-14.7% protein and 9.15-12.9% dry gluten.
