Production, trade and consumption of the Spanish fresh tomatoes

, : Production, trade and consumption of the Spanish fresh tomatoes. Acta Horticulturae (25): 81-95

Spanish production of tomatoes represents about 30 per cent. of the country's total horticultural production. Spain is the third or fourth highest producer of tomatoes in the world, following the USA and Italy and equalling the UAR. Details are given of Spanish production of tomatoes, their destination for the home market or foreign trade, and farm prices. It is concluded that an increase in the production of extra-early and late winter tomatoes is to be expected.
