Productivity, total nonstructural carbohydrates in roots, and in vitro dry matter disappearance of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) given different four-cutting systems under three different first-cutting dates

Productivity, total nonstructural carbohydrates in roots, and in vitro dry matter disappearance of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) given different four-cutting systems under three different first-cutting dates

Dissertation Abstracts International, B 34(6): 2412-2413

In field trials in 1970-1, lucerne Saranac and Vernal were cut on 22-24 May, 2-4 June or 16-18 June and thereafter were cut 3 or 4 times at 5 days before or 5, 10 or 15 days after first flowering. In unfavourable conditions during spring, the early 1st cut decreased yields but not more than the intermediate 1st cut.
