Protease activity in relation to oocyte maturation in normal, frontal ganglionectomized, allatectomized and ovariectomized females of the grasshopper, Melanoplus sanguinipes (Fab.)

Protease activity was studied daily for ten days in normal and operated adult females of Melanoplus sanguinipes (F.). In mated females, protease activity increased following feeding after fledging and by the third day there was a significant increase. The first enzymic cycle was completed in seven days, and the second cycle was short and less pronounced.
