Of the 204 isolates of H. maydis (Cochliobolus heterostrophus) obtained in 1972 from maize leaf specimens from 27 counties, 189 (93%) were of race T and 15 race 0. Of these 137 (72%) and 10, respectively, were of mating type A. Race and mating type frequencies in Pa in 1970 were 98% race T of which 97% were of mating type A.
