Rate of photosynthesis in maize hybrids in relation to heterosis

Rate of photosynthesis in maize hybrids in relation to heterosis

Fiziol i biokhimiya kul' turn rast 3(1): 7-13

Carbon assimilation was measured in the leaves of hybrids and parental lines at various stages of development in direct sunlight. It was concluded that heterosis is associated with increased photosynthesis at the beginning of the vegetative period until 11-12 leaves are formed and during filling of the grain.
