Relative tolerance in 16 varieties and crosses of rice to salinity of irrigation water

Relative tolerance in 16 varieties and crosses of rice to salinity of irrigation water

Agricultural Research Review 49(2): 201-206

In a pot trial, 16 cultivars of rice were grown for 40 days and then irrigated until harvest either with tap water or with water containing (a) 1500, (b) 3000 or (c) 4500 ppm of CaCl2 + NaCl in equal weights. Total paddy and straw yields for the salinity treatments were 2.9 and 4.7 kg for tap water, 2.0 and 5.0 kg for (a), 0.9 and 4.1 kg for (b) and 0.3 and 2.8 kg for (c), respectively.
