Analysis of the progeny of 3 crosses between a highly resistant var. (Damara), 2 vars. of low resistance (Cuba 108 and BG 52-1) and a susceptible var. (91-62) showed that resistance to C. hibisci could be conferred by either or both of 2 dominant genes, A and B. An epistatic gene I, when dominant, suppressed the individual effects of A and B but not that of A + B.
