Response of hybrid maize to nitrogen under different intra-row spacings

Indian Journal of Agronomy 16(1): 133-134

In trials with 2 maize hybrids grown at 27, 33 or 41 cm apart in rows 60 cm apart, application of 75 kg N/ha increased average grain yields to 3.34 t/ha, compared with 2.78 t/ha on plots given no N; application of 150-225 kg N/ha gave no further significant increases in yields. There were no significant differences in yields between spacings.
