Response of soybean varieties to graded doses of nitrogen and phosphorus

In a trial during the 1969 kharif season, soyabean (a) EC 39821 and (b) EC 39824 were given all combinations of 0, 30 or 60 kg N and 0, 50, 100 or 150 kg P2O5/ha. Seed yields and protein content were higher in (a) than in (b). P at rates up to 100 kg/ha in (a) and up to 50 kg in (b) increased total DM production, and seed and protein yield; protein and oil content increased with increase in the rate of P up to 150 kg/ha.
