Root-knot nematodes, their influence on the yield components of pyrethrum and their control

Meloidogyne hapla infestation has been associated with decline in flower yields of Pyrethrum in Kenya. Root-knot free plants of one clone yielded 50% more than root-knot infested plants of the same clone and produced larger flowers with a greater content of pyrethrins. Nematode-infested plants are probably more sensitive to drought than the uninfested plants.
