In field trials in 1969-70, rice Palkweng or Milsung was double cropped with barley Buheung and rice was given 0 or 120 kg N + 0, 80 or 160 kg each of P and K/ha and barley was given 0 or 60 kg N + 0, 40 or 80 kg P and 0, 50 or 100 kg K/ha. The barley grain yield was increased 18-41% by application of PK and there was a residual effect on the following rice crop, but there was no significant difference between the 2 rates of fertilizer.
