Studies on lysine nutrition of chicks. Effects of lysine deficiency on the incorporation of 14C-amino acids injected to chicks

Studies on lysine nutrition of chicks. Effects of lysine deficiency on the incorporation of 14C-amino acids injected to chicks

Japanese Journal of Zootechnical Science 43(8): 446-456

Chlorella protein hydrolysate labelled with 14C was injected intraperitoneally to chicks on a diet containing 0.76, 0.91 or 1.06% lysine. Six hours after the injection the radioactivity of excreta and expired 14CO2 was measured. The chicks were killed and the radioactivity of body components was measured. The incorporation of 14C into the carcass protein and the acid-soluble fraction was lower with least dietary lysine.
