Studies on mixture sowing of warm season annual forage crops. 2. The effect of cutting frequency on the yield of mixed forage crops

When (a) Panicum crusgalli var. frumentacea (Echinochloa frumentacea), (b) Eleusine coracana and (c) Chloris gayana were cut 4 times/year they gave higher yields when grown in mixtures than when grown alone. When cut 3 times yields of mixtures were intermediate between the yields of the components of the mixture. Yields were higher with 3 than with 4 cuts.
