Studies on precooling and storage of some varieties of snap beans

, : Studies on precooling and storage of some varieties of snap beans. Acta Horticulturae (38): 507-529

Seventeen snap bean cvs were pre-cooled to 4 or 7 deg C in forced air or by hydrocooling and stored thereafter at the same temperature for 3, 5 or 7 days. Weight loss, low-temperature damage, withering and flexibility were determined at the end of storage and the cvs are classified according to their responses. Weight loss was higher with air cooling than with hydrocooling, and at 7 deg than at 4 deg.
