In trials on sandy loam soil in 1966-8, effects of 3 levels each of soil moisture (irrigation when 25, 50 or 75% available moisture was left in the top 20-cm layer), N (0, 100 and 200 kg/ha) and P2O5 and K2O (each at 0, 75 and 150 kg) on tuber yields of potatoes were determined. Irrigation at 50 and 75% moisture availability increased yields by 3.6 and 8.9 t/ha over irrigation at 25% (26.37 t).
