Studies on the African cultivated rice, Oryza glaberrima Steud, introgression of wild genes into the cultivated species

Studies on the African cultivated rice, Oryza glaberrima Steud, introgression of wild genes into the cultivated species

Oryza 8(1): 83-86

Characteristics typical of the related species O. breviligulata were noted when 40 O. glaberrima varieties were studied for genetic variation. The O. glaberrima characters predominated in only seven varieties and it is concluded that introgression from O. breviligulata towards O. glaberrima has occurred rather than the reverse.
