Studies on the assessment of palatability and nutritive value of green panic (Panicum maximum var trichoglume)

Imported seed of panic grass (Panicum maximum) was grown for 100 days, when it reached a height of about 3 feet. The green forage had 31.6% DM and in DM crude protein was 11.74, ether extract 1.73, crude fibre 35.61, N-free extract 38.95, ash 11.97, Ca 0.348 and P 0.324%. When 4 Mandya rams were given it as the only feed for 14 days average daily intake of DM was 2.57 kg/100 kg bodyweight.
