The eco-edaphic ranges of Trichodorus spp., which occur mostly in species associations, extended from dry dune sand (Trichodorus teres) to medium-heavy horticultural soils (T. primitivus). On summer barley, laboratory populations of T. pachydermus and T. teres increased 30 and 75 -fold, respectively, in 4 months, but other plants were also suitable hosts, fresh-root availability evidently being the key factor in the reproductive capacity. Nemacur (0.5 g active ingredient per m2) reduced spotting of potatoes satisfactorily.
