In chilling tests at 2 deg , 4 deg and 6 deg C at the three-leaf stage, japonica types were more resistant than indica. Of twelve varieties of both types tested, the most resistant to chilling injury were Tainan 5, Taichung 65 and Taichung 186 in that order.
