Of 10 spontaneously oestrous gilts inseminated with semen that had been stored in liquid nitrogen, 3 conceived. When oestrus was induced with gonadotropins, 4 out of 12 gilts conceived after insemination with deep-frozen semen v 6 out of 13 gilts with semen stored in the same diluent for 24 h at 15 deg C.
