Studies on the serological and immunological response of chickens to endotoxin and endotoxoid

Studies on the serological and immunological response of chickens to endotoxin and endotoxoid

Canadian Journal of Comparative Medicine 36(2): 170-177

Chicks two, three and four weeks of age respond well serologically to endotoxin given intravenously, with the older chicks giving the best response. The induced immunity against live organism challenge produced by homologous endotoxin from Escherichia coli or Salmonella typhimurium was specific, although cross-immunity occurred between E. coli O45 and E. coli O109 and between Salmonella enteritidis and S. typhimurium.
