Investigations were carried out in Korea on the resistance of rice varieties from Korea and from the International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines to Nephotettix cincticeps (Uhl.), using antibiosis and oviposition and feeding preferences as criteria. A survey was also made of local biotypes of the leafhopper to see whether the rice varieties reacted differently to them. Most of the resistant varieties proved to be those from the Philippines, and all but one of the Korean varieties were susceptible. Oviposition and feeding preferences differed significantly among the varieties, but no correlation was observed between the two.
