Studies on winter survival of tropical grasses. 1. Dry matter production and its distribution of autumn seeded Dallis grass (Paspalum dilatatum Poir.) and Bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum Flugge.) during autumn and early winter

Delay in sowing decreased the growth of P. dilatatum and P. notatum during autumn and winter. At the 6-leaf stage, but not the 3-leaf stage, DM content was higher in early- than in late-sown plants, especially in P. notatum. The distribution of DM was sensitive to temperature after the 6-leaf stage when low temperature increased the DM accumulation in roots and decreased that in leaves.
