Two indigenous Egyptian open-pollinated varieties, Sabeini White and Sids Local, which are respectively early, low-yielding flint and late, high-yielding dent types, were reciprocally crossed with 28 local varieties and twelve characters were studied. Significant reciprocal differences for various characters were observed in twelve out of the 28 crosses involving Sabeini White in 1968 and in three of the crosses involving Sids Local.
