The consequences of accepting industrial wastes into sewers. Agricultural consequencies of trace element contamination of sewage

The consequences of accepting industrial wastes into sewers. Agricultural consequencies of trace element contamination of sewage

Chemistry and Industry (1): 12-13

B, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn and Cd were determined in sewage sludge from a town in Scotland, sampled during the holiday fortnight and during industrial working, in soil untreated and treated with the sludge, and in perennial ryegrass herbage growing on the soil. Sludge-derived Cu, Pb, Ni, Zn and Cd in the soil showed no signs of decreasing at thirty months after treatment. In the grass, Zn was markedly increased, but Cu was little affected.
