The ecology of Frontopsylla elata caucasica (Siphonaptera, Ceratophyllidae) in the Transcaucasian uplands

The ecology of Frontopsylla elata caucasica (Siphonaptera, Ceratophyllidae) in the Transcaucasian uplands

Zoologicheskii Zhurnal 54(3): 384-391

Frontopsylla elata caucasica Joff & Arg. parasitises voles inhabiting wet mountain meadows and meadow steppe of the Caucasus (Soviet Union). One of its main hosts, the common vole has been shown to suffer epizootics of plague, and the flea has also been found infected.Adults of F. e. caucasica are to be found at all times of year in the Transcaucasian uplands, but their activity fluctuates markedly with season.
