With increases in the N-fertilizer dose, seed production decreased in the varieties Maximus, Praga and Super, and the tendency was present but less consistent in E43. Both 1000-seed weight and germination percentage were also adversely affected by N application, especially in E43 and Super. Germination energy was generally higher in all varieties in seed produced after N application at the higher rates.
