In a glasshouse trial in 1966 and in field trials in 1967-9, wheat was given various rates of N, P and Cu. The optimum ratio of P:Cu for maximum grain and straw yield was 2:1. Increase in rate of applied P increased grain yield, but reduced plant uptake of N and Cu and grain N and Cu content.
