The cocoon stage of Neodiprion taedae linearis Ross, a pest of pines in Arkansas and neighbouring states, was subjected to various temperature levels to determine their effect on the duration of the stage. At 4.4 deg C, no development of the prepupa took place, while at 18.3 and 26.6 deg C development was prolonged. Regardless of the treatment preceding, the time required in the cocoon stage at 21.1 deg C was not materially changed.
