35 days prior to being joined by rams, adult Merino ewes (99 females /group) were placed on oats stubble (group 1), on lupin stubble (group 2), or on subterranean clover where they were given no supplements (group 3), a supplement of 0.5 kg lupin grain/day for 14 days (group 4) or 35 days (group 5) or a supplement of 0.75 kg lucerne hay/day for 35 days (group 6).
