The fine structure of the spermatozoon of sheep tapeworm, Moniezia expansa (Rud., 1810) (Cyclophyllidea, Anoplocephalidae)

The fine structure of the spermatozoon of sheep tapeworm, Moniezia expansa (Rud., 1810) (Cyclophyllidea, Anoplocephalidae)

Zoologica Poloniae 18(4): 475-486

The spermatozoon of Moniezia expansa is an elongated spindle-shaped cell twisted in a loose spiral. The plasma membrane has 3 layers and lacks bristles, the cytoplasm contains a single row of microtubules which extend the length of the spermatozoon, contain large dense granules in the mid-region, and take a spiral course relative to the longitudinal axis of the spermatozoon.
