The influence of climatic factors and natural enemies in the spring of 1967 on the population dynamics of Lymantria monacha in Norway Spruce stands in SW Moravia

The influence of climatic factors and natural enemies in the spring of 1967 on the population dynamics of Lymantria monacha in Norway Spruce stands in SW Moravia

Demonstrates, from examination of records for the area, that the factors combining to favour this outbreak were: a period of drought in Sept.-Oct. 1966, followed by minimum spring temperatures of not less than -2 deg C; a favourable relation between the date of flushing of Norway Spruce and larval hatching; low pupal parasitization (17-21%); and the structure and composition of the stands themselves.
